Neuropsychology: the study of the relationship between behavior, emotion, and cognition on the one hand, and brain function on the other.
Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) is a modified form of cognitive therapy that incorporates mindfulness practices such as meditation and breathing exercises. Using these tools, MBCT therapists teach clients how to break away from negative thought patterns.
Sex Therapy focuses on improving intimacy, strengthening communication skills, and exploring ways to communicate your desires to others.
Narrative Therapy looks at the stories a person carries around and the values learned from these stories. Collaboratively a person learns how to re-write the script for these stories to fit into their current value system.
Emotional Freedom Technique: Often called tapping, EFT helps desensitize negative emotions using the energy meridian points; it draws on varies forms of alternative medicine.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing: EMDR is a form of psychotherapy designed to diminish negative feelings associated with memories of traumatic events. Unlike most forms of talk therapy, EMDR focuses less on the traumatic event itself and more on the disturbing emotions and symptoms that result from the event. Treatment includes a hand motion technique used by the therapist to guide the client’s eye movements from side to side, similar to watching a pendulum swing.
Ecotherapy is the name given to a wide range of treatment programs which aim to improve your mental and physical wellbeing through doing outdoor activities in nature. Connecting with nature in this way can have lots of positive health benefits.
Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is a type of cognitive behavioral therapy. Its main goals are to teach people how to live in the moment, cope healthily with stress, regulate emotions, and improve relationships with others.
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a short-term, goal-oriented psychotherapy treatment that takes a hands-on, practical approach to problem-solving. Its goal is to change patterns of thinking or behavior that are behind people’s difficulties, and so change the way they feel.
Body-Centered Psychotherapy describes therapeutic approaches that integrate a client’s physical body into the therapy process.
